Well we just had our first meeting for 2010 and what a creative lot we have been over the break. It was really good to have a fairly full turnout. All the doors and windows were open and it was still so hot. So no we cannot complain about weather at all.

First up was Maureen M with a challenge that she had finished over Christmas and I believe it was made out of shirt samples. Very clever. And she also had a stunning piece from India which was made from silk sari fabric. There were about 5 layers altogether. It was all hand stitched and was to raise funds by a co operative back in India. Very nice to touch. So Soft.Heather McC made two gorgeous wall hangings at retreat last year. Frances did the faces for her.Joy E began this quilt from some stray blocks that just happened to be lying around..They came from some of the community quilts. And in her words some extra blocks were added and shoved in just to make them fit. A stunning result too.
Pat S made this fantail quilt using the fabulous New Zealand print. This is such an easy pattern but very effective.Maureen L has done two checkerboard quilts that started out as two inch strips.

Helen P as usual has been super productive. She has finished off a mystery quilt from retreat. A quilt for her son who is moving into a flat. Now this is really cool. The quilting all over the quilt matches the design of the quilt.
Gail J has made this stunning digger quilt for her grandson. It was all quilted by herself and on the back has Thomas the Tank Engine It is so cool.
Myra did this really bright Christmas wreath. It came from the Fox Collection as a kit.
Susan (Me) has made this Sunbonnet Sue quilt with machine applique an embroidery. I just loved the designs when I saw them so thought why not. The floral squares are quilted with an outline sunbonnet sue.
Tracy has done a set of Jill Mass Dolls, They are definitely ladies with attitude. They are really cool.Jo C made a wall hanging for her mother for Christmas. The idea came from a card. Its was finally finished at 11.30 on Christmas Eve. Now that is cutting it fine.

Veronica D went to a workshop to make this grape wall hanging. On the back is some gorgeous Laura Ashley fabric. And she also has finished off her Round Robin quilt. This has had extra added to it but what a stunning quilt. Extremely effective.
Now I am not sure if I got this one right. But I think it is Doreen McK runner. She made it for her granddaughter. She thought the challenge to herself would be good as it had curves in it.Marie created this small quilt to challenge herself too. She quilted it all from the back and had the decorative thread in the bobbin.

Frances H made a bag for her mother. She sent it back asking for pockets and zips to be put in. The pattern came from the Cloth Shop. She has also made a curtain for her room from a remnant of thermal drape. She got the pattern from and old issue of Quilters Companion. She has used 1950's fabrics.
